Simplify Your morning:

One of the best ways to simplify your morning routine, is to reduce the number decisions you have to make.

From the moment we wake-up we are bombarded with decisions – what to wear, what to eat for breakfast, who's picking up who, when to get groceries etc. Research shows that this constant barrage of options wears down our capacity to make good decisions and depletes us of mental energy, which allows us to be more patient with our family and co-workers and avoid instant gratification decisions.

CLEAR YOUR SPACE:

Our environment is often a reflection of OUR MINDS.

A messy house = a messy mind. The same can be said for your closet. If you've ever found yourself pulling out a clothing item only to be reminded that the shirt is a little tight, or you can only wear that skirt with that one shirt, or those pants have a rip that need to be fixed - you're probably a perfect candidate for a capsule wardrobe.

Simplifying your decisions in the morning - especially in your closet - can increase your ability to make better decisions, faster. So you can spend more time doing the things you love.

HOW TO Create a Capsule Wardrobe:

The average American women owns somewhere between 170 to 500 pieces of clothing, yet typically only wears 20% of those items. That means you have to sort through all the clothing you don't wear in order to get to the things you do. In addition, most American women add an average of 64 pieces of clothing to their wardrobe each year - that's more than a new item per week!

In 1930 – women had and average of 9 outfits - or roughly 20 items. This rapid increase in the consumption of clothing (aka: fast-fashion) is not only hurting us and our planet, but also the women who make our clothing.

Capsule wardrobes usually range between 10 to 50 items - and can include shoes and accessories - or not. They rarely include loungewear or special event clothing, but the specific number of items is a lot less important than the process.

We created the 15x30 challenge to help you jump-start your capsule wardrobe. The goal is to help you simplify your routine, and be more mindful about the items you do add to your closet so you can really hone in on your personal style - or personal uniform. These mindful bloggers talk in-depth about about capsule wardrobes too: unfancy, stylebeeintomind, and project333.
